Patience is a Virtue

And I don't have any!  I know I'm going to need some in spades for motherhood, but waiting for Eloise to get here is getting on my nerves!  In the beginning of my pregnancy I bought the book, "Exercising Through Your Pregnancy" and it talked about how women who exercise for the majority of their pregnancies often have babies who come a little earlier than their due date, easier labors, etc.  Ever since then I've been thinking week 38-39 would be it!  And I know those statements weren't for ALL women who exercise (except the easier labor part...I'm sure that was for all women who exercise), and I also know I am just now today at week 38 but... I am as impatient as they come!

And its so hot here, and I'm tired all the time, and I haven't felt even the hint of a contraction.  My back aches, I'm cranky, I'm not sleeping.  My sister went to camp for a week and I need her to walk with me in the mornings and hang out with me during the day.  I have this huge, heavy belly, and my legs that need two days to recover from running 2.5 miles on the treadmill are slowly turning to mush.  I can see it.  Muscle leaving, fat accumulating.

Whine, whine, whine.   I know, my life is so hard.

Okay, not really.  I know I have a healthy baby girl waiting to be born and I am over the moon excited about that!  I'm blessed to be able to stay home, rest when I need to, exercise when I can, and get the house ready for a new family member.  I love that too.  So in the midst of my whiny, impatient thoughts I know there is much to be thankful for and that I need to get a grip.

Today I'm packing my hospital bag, running a few little errands, maybe visiting the YMCA pool since I'm still sore from an AWESOME treadmill run on Monday.  It felt soooooo good, but I started feeling the effects of it almost immediately.  I'm finishing up my thank you cards and brushing up on my Bradley Method skills for natural labor.  I do wish my sister was here to keep me company.  I didn't realize how much fun I was having with her until she left for a week.  BUT, I shall keep busy, soldier on, and try to be a little more patient.

The key word there is TRY.

In the meantime, check this out!  This is my foxy mom with me!  Am I cute or what!  I hope Eloise has some extra chins.

I absolutely love this picture.  I have no idea why except I'm all sentimental because I'm about to have a little one and do this very thing.  I discovered a bunch of baby pictures of me the other day and showed them to Jason.  I may not be the foxy lady my mom was, but I sure was a cute kid!  And let me just say, looking at cute baby pictures does NOT help with the whole patience thing.

  1. I wish you many good distractions over the next two weeks! And your mom looks like Princess Di to me in that picture. So pretty!

And you are at the point that I always feel like my body will never be the same again. But it will be! And probably better because you will be a great multitasker, not that you aren't already.

I'll be thinking of you with your little one almost here!
