Tiiiiiiyeeeerd

This is how you spell it if you live in the south and are REALLY TIRED!  And let me just say, I have no patience with tiredness or TIIIIIYEEERD-ness.  None.  I want to exercise for my hour a day, I want to get Eloise's room ready (BIG, EXCITING news on that front), I want to clean my house within an inch of its life (baseboards and walls look out), and when I am the southern version of VERY tired, those things are so hard to do.  I told Jason just this morning, it is a mental tiredness too.  Like even the thought of folding clothes while sitting on the couch watching TV is too much.

So yesterday I woke up at 3:44 a.m.  Jason's alarm went off at 4:00 and he ran before leaving to join his triathlon training group for some swimming and biking.  I never went back to sleep.  Eventually I got up, had a cup of coffee and got crackin' (possibly another southern term for "busy").  I took Chance for a mile walk, but decided that was all I was going to do since I wanted to tackle some cleaning projects. Our bathroom is gleaming now, and I grin when I go in there.  I cleaned out a kitchen drawer for Eloise's bibs and they are sitting in there, clean and cute right now.  I cleaned up the kitchen, flattened all the boxes that packaged her FURNITURE, dusted our bedroom and parts of the living room, vacuumed up all the little white pieces of foam lying around from when we unpacked her FURNITURE, swept off the back porch... I was a wild thing and it was GREAT!

When Jason got home, he painted Eloise's bookcase and I sat out in the garage and talked to him while eating peanut butter crackers and watermelon.  My parents came over later to see the new furniture, and Mom and I went to get a curtain rod for Eloise's oh-so-cute valance.  We grabbed sandwiches at Panera Bread and brought them home to our men, ate dinner and they headed back home.

My eyes burned, I was so tired.  I immediately changed into my terricloth pink shorts and Jason's oldest, softest track t-shirt (my pregnancy uniform) and told him, "I am going to sleep well tonight!"  And I did.  For 45 minutes.  I woke up at 9:45 pm to pee and turn the air down...and that was the end of it until sometime after 1:00 a.m.  My alarm went off at 5:40 for my walk with my sister, but I texted her that I was going to try to sleep some more.  Which never happened.  I was annoyed at not sleeping, annoyed at being tired, annoyed that I STILL couldn't sleep, annoyed at missing my walk, annoyed with my aching back (and arms and neck, I guess from the scrubbing).  Jason took one look at my sad, pitiful face and said, "Do you want me to make you some cinnamon toast?"  Why yes.  Yes I do.

It helped.  I've considered going back to bed, and I might have to later, but for now my back still aches and lying around only makes it worse.  I suppose as far as pregnancy symptoms go, sleeplessness is not the worst and so I will push through as best I can.  This may be a loooong 3 weeks if things continue to go this way.  Whew!  I'd LOVE to Eloise to come early, but I also don't want to get my hopes up, get impatient or be disappointed if she doesn't.

Enough about sleep, though!  We have BABY FURNITURE!  If you've been reading, you know we've had a bit of a fiasco with it.  Well, Babies R Us came through, and our furniture was at the store within a few days of us placing the order.  It is now put together and sitting in her bedroom, which is starting to look a wee bit more like an actual bedroom!  And I love it!  We still need to get a mattress and hang her valance, and we may do those things today.  I am planning on getting some wooden letters that spell Eloise, and a sweet friend of my sister's has agreed to paint and decorate them to go with the decor of the room (owls, trees, birds).  These I will hang behind her crib.  The doll-house shaped bookcase is painted and ready, I'm just waiting until tomorrow to put her things on it so the paint is fully dry and settled first.

An idea of what things will look like when they are finished

Dresser, cute birdhouse lamp and glider - the lamp may be the only thing that stays here.  This is where the diaper changing pad will go.

Okay, so there are still some piles to work through.
Tonight our small group from church is throwing us a little baby shower after our Bible study, so tomorrow I plan to go get any last baby items I still need.  I have gift cards sitting at the ready for a little shopping spree, and even if it is just for things like a diaper pail and changing pad covers, I am excited about it!

It looks like we are ready for a little girl, if only she would get here!  I wish lots of baby movement meant immenent labor because she is a WILD THING!  She moves all the time.  I told her there was more room out here, it was warm and we were nice, but so far that has not convinced her.

So the waiting and wishing for sleep (and more so for Eloise's arrival) continues... but at least I have a cute baby room in which to play.
