Moonlight and Shots

First of all, happy October!  I absolutely love this month!  I love fall and cool weather and mums and pumpkins and the changing colors of trees and Halloween.  It is like the season of fun begins with Halloween followed by Thanksgiving followed by Christmas, and this year I have a baby girl who will experience it all for the first time!

Eloise Jane is 9 weeks old today and she had a doctor's appointment this morning.  I was looking forward to seeing how she's grown, but not looking forward to the 3 shots she had to receive for her immunizations.  She woke up to feed at 3:45 a.m., was asleep again by 4:45, so I headed out to get in a few miles under the  moonlight to sort of prepare myself for the doctor's visit.  It had been a while since I'd run in the dark, especially alone, so I stayed on 3 streets in my neighborhood until I had 3 miles.  It was a lovely and cool morning and the moonlight made it seem lighter.  The stars were bright as well and once I got comfortable running in the darkness, I enjoyed my early morning view of the sky.  It was 52 degrees and felt heavenly!

I got home, woke Jason up so he could go run before work, hopped in the shower, ate some breakfast, washed the dishes and listened for my baby girl to awaken.  When she did I fed her, washed her off and changed her outfit after she pooped down her leg, fed her some more, and cleaned spit up until Mom arrived and changed her once more as I grabbed a different shirt and we were out the door by 9:20. Whew!

She had a GREAT appointment and her doctor was very pleased with her progress.  She now weighs 10 lbs, 10 oz and she is 22 inches long.  She is in the 50th percentile on everything and the doctor said she had "wonderful neck control."  The shots were quick, and while I could feel a tiny lump forming in my throat, it was over as quick as it began and my little girl was in my arms being soothed.  She was a trooper!

Mom and I ran to Panera for another bit of breakfast and a much needed decaf mocha for me.  When Mom headed home, I fed Eloise and we both bedded down.  I was fading fast after my early morning, and my little girl was tired after her big day.

After a few hours Eloise woke up in her bassinet and cried out so I picked her up.  She wasn't really awake so I laid her down in bed next to me and watched her . Oh my goodness, I love this child, and I am so so so thankful for a good doctor's visit and a healthy baby girl!
